BBVA Compass Bank is now offering current BBVA Compass checking members a $25 sign-up bonus when they refer someone to open a new personal or business checking account using a Compass Bank customer referral code. Current members will also receive an additional $5 bonus for each new customer your referrals refer.

Here’s how the BBVA Compass Bank Referral Program works.

Get your unique customer referral number from any branch or by calling 1-800-COMPASS (800-266-7277).
Pick up referral cards to give friends, co-workers, relatives, or anyone that you do business with. Just be sure to list your unique referral code on the card.
Your friend uses your code to open a new personal or business checking account. That’s it! Your bonuses will be automatically deposited into your accounts within 90 days (once all conditions are met).

Now, anytime your friend refers a friend, you’ll get another $5 referral bonus.

Some Important Details

There are a few conditions that have to be met, but they are pretty standard for this type of referral offer. Mostly, the person you refer cannot already be a BBVA Compass customer, and they have to show that they are actually using their account, not just opening it for the bonus and then closing it again. The details are as follows:

New consumer checking accounts require a minimum opening deposit of $25. New small business checking accounts require a minimum opening deposit of $100.

Only 1 bonus may be received per referral, regardless of how many accounts are opened by a referred individual.

The referred individual must be a new BBVA Compass customer, who has not had a BBVA Compass consumer or small business checking account within 90 days prior to opening the new account.

The referred individuals’ account must remain open for a minimum of 30 days, and there must be at least 2 customer initiated deposits within the first 30 days of account opening in order to qualify for the bonus.

Referred individuals may not reside within the referrer’s household. Also, you may only refer individuals with whom you have an existing personal or business relationship, although we’re not sure how the bank would verify this.
